Light Rays & Light Beams

  • The narrow path in which light is transmitted known as a light ray

  •  A light beam is made up of a collection of light rays.

Reflection is when light bounces off an object. If the surface is smooth & shiny, like glass, water, or polished metal, the light will reflect at the same angle as it hit the surface.

Refraction is the bending of a wave when it enters a medium where its speed is different.

The refraction of light when it passes from a fast medium to a slow medium to a slow medium bends the light ray toward the normal to the boundary between the two media.

Each color has a different wavelength. Red has the longest wavelength.

When all the waves are seen together, they make white light
